MLB Pitch, Hit & Run

Batter Up! Boys and girls ages 7-14 are invited to showcase their baseball skills in Major League Baseball’s annual “Pitch, Hit & Run” event Saturday, March 27.   This FREE event is offered by the Parks & Recreation Department in conjunction with Major League Baseball and will be held from 1 – 4 p.m. at B.F. Phillips Community Park located at 3335 4th Army Memorial. No pre-registration is required for this event. Ages for children are determined as of July 17, 2010.

The MLB Pitch, Hit & Run is designed to encourage youth participation in baseball by allowing youngsters to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities.  Participants will be required to throw pitches at a designated “strike zone” target, hit from a stationary tee for accuracy and distance, and run from second base to home plate for time.

Boys and girls will compete together in four age groups: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14.  All participants competing at the local level will receive a participation prize and a chance to advance to the regional competition and then on to the national competition.  National finalists receive an all expenses paid trip to San Francisco for the 2010 All-Star Game courtesy of Major League Baseball.

For more information about this event, email FriscoFun@FriscoTexas.gov or call 972-292-6600.  In case of inclement weather on the day of the event, please call the Parks & Recreation rainout line at 972-292-6666.
